Patriotic Summer

2012 is definitely a patriot summer, Union Jacks are flying all around the town centres and most shop displays consists of bunting and the colours of the flag displayed loud and proudly. Not only are the big games around the corner but so far we have had the Queens diamond jubilee and the Wimbledon tennis games. Carnaby Street never fails to disappoint and as always it has the funnest street decoration, if your around town then you should definitely pay it a little vist.

No Church In The Wild

Cashing in or making a stand? Whatever the reason it can clearly be said that the latest video taken from Jay Z and Kanye West's WTT album is heavily influenced by the protests and civil unrest that had occurred across Europe and America. Created in Prague, the video is directed by the same man behind M.I.A's "Born Free" video, Roman Gavras. The clip is dark, loud and probably one of the most relevant videos of recent times.

Team Karl

Karl Lagerfeld will launch his Karl autumn/winter 2012 collection at Selfridges London on the 24th July. Not only will he be unveiling his Karl Lagerfeld Paris Man collection featuring his finer, luxury mens wear range but he will also be launching a new pop-up shop 'Team Karl' on the third floor. Definitely a date to be added to the your diaries, and make sure you don't forget to check out the Karl Lagerfeld themed windows.

A Beautiful Future

Late Lee McQueen had a fascination with nature and he was excellent in adding the touch of dark sinister twist to his work. The modern brand McQueen has moved on since and Burton has tried to stay true to the brand and capture the elements of nature, whilst still adding her own take on to the topic. Out are the moody, deep, dramatic elements that were the heart of McQueen and in are the pastel tailoring, Mongolian fur collars, exploding petals and enormous organza blossoms. Burton describes the collection as 'a kind of soft futurism. Not cold and structured, but optimistic and forward-looking.”

'You get what you put in'

Ms Westwood took to Selfridges to launch her environmental justice campaign in support of climate refugees. The campaign raises awareness of the struggle people have endured due to natural disasters forcing them to flee their homes.
The event took place on the roof of Selfridges store in London and guests including Mathew Horne, Laura Whitmore, Rosamund Hanson and Zara Martin all modelled Westwood's signed Charity T-shirts. All the T-shirts in the collection are produced from ethically produced organic cotton and all proceeds go to the 'No Place Like Home' campaign.
